On October 20, a celebration ceremony for the silver jubilee comprising representatives from different universities around the world was held at the Cultural Center at the University of Macau (UM).

The passage of time witnessed the 25th growth of the University. To celebrate this great event for UM in the 21st century, a series of activities were arranged throughout the whole year. With guests from all over the world, the silver jubilee ceremony was one of the most solemn events UM has ever held.

"All arise please," said the MC, then a long queue of honorable representatives, mainly presidents and vice presidents of universities worldwide, dressed up in golden black ceremonious robes, lined up and entered the hall along with classical music. This symbolized that the celebration ceremony was about to commence.

After the national anthem of China, the Rector of the University, Prof. Iu Vai Pan delivered his speech with the emphasis on "flying higher with silvery wings" as the main theme of the silver jubilee.

Prof. Iu concluded that, over the last 25 years, the university has built itself an "innovated, knowledgeable, and spirit team of students, teachers, researchers, administrators coming from Macau, and all over the world."
