Macau Japan Festival

The 6th Macao Japan Festival was held at the Cultural Center on October 18. It is an event which is held every two years and organized by the Center for Japanese Studies of the University of Macau, the Consulate-General of Japan in Hong Kong and the Japan Alumni Society of Macau.

On-the-spot finding of that day, the air of Japan permeated everywhere. Performances played by the Japanese were shown continuously from noon to night. All the performers were mainly from Kyushu and Okinawa, Japan. The Japanese tradition of judo and dances were carried to the stage of the Macau Cultural Center. In addition, different types of traditional Japanese food were provided free of charge. They included: Japanese New Year cakes and Japanese fish balls. Besides, there were several counters such as games' counters, a painting counter, all of them were welcomed, especially the counter for the famous game "To Net Goldfish."

One of the participants, Mrs. Ng, who came with her family, said that although it was her first time to join this festival, it brought her a nice experience because she could know Japan directly from the performances and different theme counters. In addition, her son could have fun there too. She said that it was a very good idea to hold this kind of activity to increase the cultural exchange between the two places.
