UM has entered a new era after moving to the new campus. The relocation has made UM an important platform in the Pearl River Delta region which can provide great opportunities for UM students and students from the Pearl River Delta region. 80% of the students at UM come from Macao. It is our duty and responsibility to educate local students. The remaining 20% are outstanding students from around the world. They can exchange ideas and share knowledge with the local students. This strategy helps to promote Macao to the rest of the world and broadens Macao residents’ horizon. With this in mind, we started looking and identified two key areas for student recruitment. They are Malaysia and India. Recruiting Malaysian students brings new development to UM. It is natural for UM to recruit Indian students as India and China together make up 40% of the world’s population. Indian Prime Minister Modi has visited China and Chinese President Xi Jinping has visited India. These visits are evidence of the importance of China-India relations. I hope Macao students will bear this in mind when planning their future
