A delegation from the University of Macau (UM), led by Rector Yonghua Song, recently visited Peking University and was warmly received by its president Hao Ping. During the meeting, both parties had an in-depth discussion on strengthening collaboration between the two universities, especially in the training of Portuguese-speaking professionals in the field of business and economics, and the sharing of teaching resources for Portuguese language education. During the visit, members of the delegation visited Peking University’s Yuanpei College, library, and State Key Laboratory of Natural and Biomimetic Drugs.

A delegation from UM, led by Rector Yonghua Song, visited the CASS and was warmly received by CASS Vice President Gao Xiang. During the meeting, Song and Gao signed a collaborative framework agreement on behalf of UM and the CASS. Both parties agree to establish a joint research institute for the training of high-calibre professionals, as well as the development of high-end think tanks, Macao regional studies, and interdisciplinary research.

A delegation from the UM, led by Rector Yonghua Song, visited the University of Lisbon (ULisboa) in Portugal. During the visit, Rector Song and ULisboa Rector António da Cruz Serra had an in-depth discussion on collaboration in the area of medical sciences and signed a strategic collaboration agreement.

A delegation from UM’s Faculty of Business Administration (FBA) visited three business schools in mainland China, namely the School of Management and the International Business School at Zhejiang University, as well as the Business School at Sun Yat-Sen University. The UM delegation had an in-depth discussion with representatives from the three business schools on how to enhance teaching quality of business schools, how to carry out teaching and research activities, and how to promote collaboration between universities and businesses, in the context of artificial intelligence.

A delegation from the University of Macau (UM), led by UM Rector Prof Yonghua Song, visited six top-notch higher education institutions in the United Kingdom, in an effort to forge academic and research collaborations with universities in the UK, and exchange experience in higher education development. According to Prof Song, UM has a long tradition of academic collaboration with British universities. This strategic visit and the implementation of the collaboration will further enhance UM’s ties and cooperation with British universities. They are also in line with UM’s mission of internationalisation and contribute to UM’s role as a major platform for international higher education collaboration in the west of the Greater Bay Area.

UM and Tsinghua University have signed an agreement on the joint training of postdoctoral scholars. According to the agreement, UM and Tsinghua will jointly fund postdoctoral programmes, with the combined strengths and resources of the two universities in certain disciplines, including engineering, materials science, information science, and life science. The two universities will collaborate in cutting-edge research and postdoctoral training, in order to promote the development of strategic scientific research in China. The agreement signing ceremony was held at Tsinghua University. UM Rector Yonghua Song and Tsinghua University Vice President Zheng Li signed the agreement on behalf of their universities.
