There are several keys I think. One key which I regarded as very important is mentorship. I was lucky in my life to have many very good mentors From each I learn something else on different things and they are very good mentors. Another key to success is probably hard work. You need to work very hard. There are no ways to go around, there are no shortcuts, just hardworking, perseverance And learning how to deal with failures. There are many more failures in life than success. Success is very few, and actually we fail numerous times, and the idea is to learn from the failures. So hard work, learning from failures, mentorship, and also learning to ask the right question. One needs to ask the right question in biology these days, but not only to ask the right question, but also ask how this question is approached experimentally, whether there are the right tools to approach this question. So this is another key to success. Another important key to success I think is not to listen to background noise. There is a lot of noise around you, people are going to conferences and they would tell you something similar, so you should hurry and publish. And something is competing against you, I shut my ears, I never listen to anybody, I listen to only my internal voices. And last but not least is luck. You know, I don’t know anything about luck, but I was lucky. So I think that all these elements altogether makes you successful.
