In celebration of the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR), the University of Macau (UM) held a flag-raising ceremony today (20 December) at its Lotus Square to extend its best wishes to the country and the SAR.
The ceremony began at 8:00am. Members of the UM National Flag Team marched in perfect unison, escorting the national flag, the regional flag, and the university flag to the flagpole. As the national anthem played, the three flags were raised. About 200 faculty and students attended the ceremony. All of them stood solemnly and looked at the flags with respectful attention. Guests present at the ceremony included UM Rector Yonghua Song; Vice Rectors Michael Hui, Rui Martins, Ge Wei, Mok Kai Meng, and Xu Jian; and residential college masters.
