In celebration of the 75th anniversary of the People’s Republic of China and the 25th anniversary of the Macao SAR, the University of Macau (UM) organised the ‘Dancing to the Rhythm of Youth’: Dual Celebration Students Variety Show and invited students from Peking University (PKU), Tsinghua University, and Zhejiang University (ZJU) to join UM students in collaborative performances. About 500 performers and crew members took part in the show and delivered a spectacular audiovisual feast for an audience of more than 600 people.

Yonghua Song, rector of UM, said in his opening speech that the students from the four universities showcased their artistic talents through the variety show. He encouraged the young people to bring about more positive changes and contribute to a brighter future for Macao and the country. The variety show featured an array of programmes, starting with the national anthem and the university anthem performed by the UM Choir and Symphonic Band. Students from the four universities also presented a series of captivating performances of folk music, dragon and lion dance, a cappella, cheerleading dance infused with Chinese elements, African drumming, and martial arts. The show showcased the traditional Chinese culture and the integration of different cultures.
