The Public Administration and Civil Service Bureau (SAFP) and the University of Macau (UM) co-organised the third leadership training course for civil servants in Macao. A closing ceremony for the course was held at UM recently. During the event, UM Rector Yonghua Song and SAFP Director Kou Peng Kuan presented certificates of completion to 30 students.

During the ceremony, Cheong Weng Chon, secretary for administration and justice, thanked UM for its contributions to the training of civil servants in Macao. According to Cheong, the SAR government will create internship opportunities for Macao civil servants in the Guangdong-Macao In-depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin, adding that priority will be given to participants in the first three leadership training courses. He encouraged the students to apply to the internship positions to contribute to the zone’s development.

The training course consisted of a total of 360 hours, with 153 hours devoted to thematic learning of four modules, namely the constitution and the Basic Law, public administration, national education, and new knowledge training. The training course also included 177 hours of experiential learning in various forms, including departmental visits, field trips, group research, team building, public speaking training, library workshops, training in literature retrieval methodology, and debates on policy directions. In addition, ten seminars on leadership skills were held for participants to exchange ideas face-to-face with senior government officials, renowned scholars, and business leaders, so that they could learn more about the SAR government’s philosophy of governance.
