The ‘Science and Innovation China’ Greater Bay Area Innovation Forum – Integrated Circuit and Autonomous Driving Technology Development Forum was held today (2 December) at the University of Macau (UM). During the event, representatives from science and technology associations, universities, research institutes, think tanks, enterprises, and investment institutions in Shenzhen, Hong Kong, and Macao explored the possibility of a new model for the collaborative development of two industries, namely integrated circuits and autonomous driving technology, in the Greater Bay Area (GBA). The event aimed to put forward new strategies to promote the integration of economic and technological development in the region.
Yao Jian, deputy director of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Macao SAR, and Jiang Yuyang, deputy chair of the Shenzhen Municipal People’s Congress and president of the Shenzhen Association for Science and Technology, attended the event. In his speech, Rector Yonghua Song told the participants about UM’s research characteristics and outstanding achievements in the fields of integrated circuits and autonomous driving. According to him, the rapid development of the GBA and the in-depth cooperation between Guangdong and Macao have brought new opportunities to the university. UM will take the initiative to strengthen collaboration with Shenzhen and Hong Kong, and will continue to promote the integration of science and technology and help build a centre to demonstrate technological innovations in Macao.
During the event, which combined both online and in-person elements, representatives of various institutions, including Shenzhen University, UM, Peng Cheng Laboratory, YSEMI, the Southern University of Science and Technology, and the Shenzhen Institute of Advanced Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, gave keynote speeches revolving around technical development and talent development in the fields of integrated circuits and autonomous driving, as well as challenges facing the two industries.
The event was co-organised by UM, the Shenzhen Association for Science and Technology, the Association for Promotion of Science and Technology of Macau, and Hong Kong Information Technology Joint Council.
