The University of Macau (UM) will resume in-person teaching on Thursday October 7, students will still be required to obtain a permit for in-person learning before attending classes each day. The university will strictly follow the epidemic prevention guidelines of the Macao SAR Government and will thoroughly disinfect the campus before classes resume.
To ensure the safety of all university members on campus, UM urges all staff and students to take advantage of the National Day holiday or the days immediately after to receive vaccinations. For the convenience of staff and students, the Health Bureau will carry out a vaccination campaign for UM staff and students on 5 October.
According to the guidelines released by the Education and Youth Development Bureau, staff and students of tertiary institutions will be required to show proof of at least the first dose of the vaccine or a negative result for the COVID nucleic acid test within seven days of returning to the university from 25 October. UM will strictly enforce the guidelines: students who do not meet the above requirements will be treated as absentees; staff will be considered unreasonably absent; and post-doctoral researchers will be counted as taking personal annual leave.
For more information, please refer to the university’s announcement issued on 1 October. (Important Notice: UM Urges Students and Faculty to Get Vaccinated ASAP)
Please stay tuned and follow the guidelines of the Macao SAR government.
