A delegation led by Gu Shengzu, vice chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), recently visited the University of Macau (UM) and was warmly received by UM University Council Chair Lam Kam Seng and Rector Yonghua Song.
During their meeting at the University Gallery, Lam said that the university would continue to step up effort on the development of technological innovations and the training of professionals and would seize opportunities brought by the region’s characteristics. Song told the guests the four reasons that make UM a unique university: its location in a special administrative region, its special mission, special status, and a unique model of education. He added that the university positions itself as a university for Macao and will actively participate in the construction of the Greater bay Area, align with national development strategies, strive to become more international, and nurture patriotic talent with global perspectives, competitiveness, and responsibilities.
During the visit, the guests also visited the UM Wu Yee Sun Library, the State Key Laboratory of Quality Research in Chinese Medicine, and the State Key Laboratory of Internet of Things for Smart City. After the visit, Gu spoke highly of UM’s development and expressed hope that the university would continue to make good use of the opportunities and advantages of the times to take its development to new heights.
