The first parade by student national flag teams from higher education institutions and secondary schools in Macao was held today (15 December) at the Lotus Square of the University of Macau (UM). The event aimed to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China and the 20th anniversary of the Macao Special Administrative Region. It was jointly organised by UM and the Alumni Association of Macau Tsinghua University Programme, with support from the Higher Education Fund. An award presentation ceremony for winners of a photography competition held earlier was also held during the event. Part of UM’s effort to celebrate the two important anniversaries, the competition aimed to encourage participants to depict UM’s development and achievements since Macao’s return and the competition of the new campus.
