A delegation led by Kaohsiung Mayor Han Kuo-yu today (24 March) visited the University of Macau (UM). The delegation was warmly received by UM Rector Yonghua Song and Vice Rector (Research) Ge Wei. Rector Song shared UM’s history, campus master plan, and achievements since Macao’s return to China with Han and presented a commemorative photo album about the campus to Han as a souvenir. Han was very impressed that UM had completed the design and construction of, and relocation to, the new campus, within a little over three years, and he praised UM’s high degree of internationalisation. Han also visited the State Key Laboratory of Quality Research in Chinese Medicine, one of the three state key labs at UM, to learn more about how UM commercialises its research results. Prof Wang Yitao, director of the lab and the Institute of Chinese Medical Sciences, told Han that the lab has close relationships with many universities, including Kaohsiung Medical University. Han showed a strong interest in the innovative research projects of the lab. The delegation also visited the various facilities on campus, with special stops at the faculty buildings and the residential college area.
