Ng Ka Meng, vice captain of the University of Macau (UM) Rock Climbing Team, recently placed second in the men’s lead climbing category (Grade 1A), at a national inter-varsity rock climbing competition. The event was supported by the Federation of University Sports of China and organised by the Guangdong Social Sports Centre.
200 athletes from
15 higher education institutions in Hong Kong, Macao, and other areas south of Yangtze
River, participated in the competition, in the two main categories, namely lead
climbing and speed combing.
Five male members and three female members of the UM Rock Climbing Team participated in the lead climbing category (Grade 1A), the highest level in the competition. Yu Liheng, captain of the Rock Climbing Team, and team member Lam Chan Chong, placed fifth and sixth respectively in the men’s lead climbing category (Grade 1A). The male members of the UM team together placed fourth in the men’s group category (Grade 1A). Fu Rongrong and Kam Hoi Kei placed fourth and sixth respectively in the women’s lead climbing category (Grade 1A).
