A UM ganha prémio da Bid Convention por organizar conferência internacional

The University of Macau (UM) Department of Mathematics recently received the Bid Convention Award at the 2015 Macao Convention and Exhibition Commendation Awards, for hosting the tenth congress of the International Society for Analysis, its Applications and Computation (ISAAC) earlier this year. Prof Qian Tao from the department says that UM’s bid to win the conference against top universities around the world, along with the success of the event, have increased the influence of the university in the international academic circle, which are keys to winning the award. The conference attracted over 350 experts and scholars from 30 countries and regions. 13 mathematicians delivered plenary speeches at the conference. Among the plenary speakers are Prof Siu Yum Tong from Harvard University and Prof Alan McIntosh from Australian National University.
