The University of Macau’s (UM) Department of Portuguese will hold the 29th Summer Course in Portuguese Language and Culture between 13 July and 31 July. The main objective of the course is to spread the knowledge of the Portuguese language and culture in Macao. This year’s course will be attended by approximately 270 participants from around the world, including mainland China, Vietnam, Malaysia, Timor, Ethiopia, the United States, Hong Kong, and Macao.

Classes are scheduled from Monday to Friday, from 8:30am to 1:00pm, and are divided into ten sections at four levels: Beginners, Basic, Intermediate, and Advanced.

In addition to regular classes, students will also have the opportunity to learn more about the historical, social, economic, political, and cultural aspects of Macao through various kinds of extracurricular activities, such as Portuguese folk dance, choral singing, and visits to local museums and the Historic Centre of Macau.

The opening ceremony will be held on Monday 13 July at 6:00pm in the Stanley Ho East Asia College (W13).
