An international conference on North Korea, co-organised by the University of Macau’s (UM) Faculty of Social Sciences, Institute of Global and Public Affairs, and a think tank on South Korea-China affairs, was held at UM recently. More than 20 renowned scholars, experts, and former government officials from China, South Korea, the United States, Japan, Russia, Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan attended the conference. Participants discussed the political and economic conditions of North Korea after Kim Jong-un came into power, ways to enhance mutual understanding between North Korea and its neighboring regions and the international community, and ways to promote peace and stability in the region by reducing misjudgment of the current situation on the Korean Peninsula, and other related issues.
