“The 2008 U.S. Election: Culture War” Seminar jointly organized by the Department of Government and Public Administration, Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities of the University of Macau (UM) and the University of Macau Library will be held on 10 Oct (Friday) at the American Corner, UM Library between 2:00 pm and 3:00 pm. The Seminar will explore the “Culture War” that surges in U.S election campaign and the cause of polarization in electorates. Besides, this Seminar will also talk about the “Bradley Effect” which might appear in the opinion polls.

Prof. Michael Roskin, the speaker of the Seminar, was a newspaperman and foreign-service officer before earning a Ph.D. at The American University in Washington. After his first Fulbright at the University of Toulouse in France, Prof. Roskin came to Lycoming College in Pennsylvania in 1972 and has been teaching political science there ever since. In 1991-94 he was a visiting professor at the U.S. Army War College. Prof. Roskin has authored several political-science textbooks on Introduction to Politics, Comparative Politics, and International Relations. He is currently a Fulbright Lecturer at the Department of Government and Public Administration, University of Macau,.
