The Department of History of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities of the University of Macau will host an international conference on “Americans, Macao and China 1784-1950: Historical Relations, Interactions and Connections” on 8 and 9 December 2008. Scholars from the United States, Europe, Hong Kong and Macao will meet to present new research on Sino-American historical exchanges, covering topics such as American men and women’s experiences in Macao, the American images of China, American shipping, trade and commerce in the Pearl River Delta, and US-China diplomatic relations.

The conference is open to the public and will be held at the Room L105, Luso-Chinese Building, University of Macau. The Opening Ceremony begins at 9:30am on Monday, 8 December.
