The Board of Administrators of the Association of Universities of Portuguese Language (AULP) recently held a meeting in the AULP’s headquarters in Lisbon, Portugal. The meeting was attended by representatives from 12 higher education institutions in Portuguese-speaking countries, who hold various positions at the AULP. Prof Rui Martins, vice rector (research) of the University of Macau (UM), who is a long-time key liaison person between UM and the association, chaired the meeting on behalf of UM. It is the first time that UM, president of the AULP, has chaired a meeting of the AULP’s Board of Administrators.

Participants discussed the activities of the AULP’s headquarters in the past year as well as new projects to be carried out in the field of higher education, including the Fernão Mendes Pinto 2015 award, the release of the minute of the 24th annual meeting of the ALUP held in Macao, and the publication of the RILP magazine (2014 issue 27, volume 3). Participants also discussed the preparation for the 25th annual meeting, which is due to be held in Cabo Verde from 15 July to 17 July.

In addition to Prof Rui Martins, other participants at the meeting included Prof Tito Fernandes, representative of the University of Lúrio, Mozambique; Prof Sandra Almeida, vice rector of the Federal University of Minas Gerais, Brazil; Prof João Gabriel Silva, rector of the University of Coimbra, Portugal; Prof Judite Nascimento, rector of the University of Cabo Verde; Prof Lourenço do Rosário, rector of Polytechnic University, Mozambique; Prof Ermelinda Cardoso, representative of the University of Katyavala Bwila, Angola; Prof João Sobrinho Teixeira, president of the Polytechnic Institute of Braganca, Portugal; Prof Aristeu Rosendo Pontes Lima, vice rector of the African Brazilian Portuguses-Speaking International Integrated University ; Prof Luis Vicente Ferreira, president of the Lisbon Polytechnic Institute; Prof Orlando Quilambo, rector of Eduardo Mondlane University, Mozambique; and Prof José Mateus Alexandre, representative of Mandume Ya Ndemufayo University, Angola.
