The University of Macau (UM) Library and Thomson Reuters earlier co-organised an international conference entitled “Research Assessment: Implications, Methodology, and Best Practices”, attracting over 120 experts and scholars from Singapore, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macao. Participants said the conference enhanced their understanding of research assessment, which would be very useful for their future work.

Director of the Tertiary Education Services Office Sou Chio Fai, UM Rector Wei Zhao, UM Vice Rector (Research) Rui Martins, and UM Librarian Paul Poon attended the conference as guests.

Rector Wei Zhao said that the conference provided a platform for participants to exchange ideas on research management and assessment, as well as to learn from each other’s experience in order to find the most suitable research strategy for their institutions.
