One of the buildings in the residential college area on the University of Macau’s (UM) new campus has passed quality inspection, according to the record on the handover status of the new campus buildings signed today (20 August) between UM and the Infrastructure Development Office of Macao SAR. This is the first building on the new campus that has received and passed quality inspection since the new UM campus came under the jurisdiction of Macao SAR, which also means that as of today UM will officially manage and use this building.

Nam Yue Group, the contractor of the new campus, has continued with the relevant follow-up works since the new UM campus came under the jurisdiction of Macao SAR on 20 July. The Macao SAR government has also been actively coordinating the efforts of various departments concerned in the quality inspection of the new campus buildings in accordance with the relevant laws and regulations of Macao SAR. Now, after one month’s effort, one of the buildings in the residential college area, has received and passed quality inspection in all aspects, including fire system, fire escape routes, and fire safety equipment. Representatives of UM and the Infrastructure Development Office today signed a record on the handover status of the new campus buildings, signalling that as of today UM will officially manage and use this building as well as carry out relevant follow-up works.

UM hopes to finish quality inspection of two buildings in the Postgraduate Houses area by early September so that it can arrange the first batch of students to move into the residential areas of the new campus. Quality inspection of the rest of the buildings is expected to be completed in stages in the future.
