Every year CASSS awards travel grants to five outstanding students out of a large number of applicants from around the world. This year, CASSS received more than one thousand applications, and Lv Guangping stood out with her research report titled “Fast Determination of Saponins in Three Medicinal Plants of Panax Genus Using UPLC-DAD-CAD and High Throughput Microwave-assisted Extraction.” Her research received guidance from Prof. Li Shaoping and Dr. Zhao Jing from ICMS and SKL-QRCM. This is the third consecutive year that Prof. Li’s team has received the travel grant from CASSS. Previous recipients of the grant include postdoctoral fellow Dr. Zhao Jing (in 2011) and PhD student Chen Xiaojia (in 2012). Prof. Li has also accepted the invitation to attend the HPLC 2013. He will give a speech on “The Strategy for Chromatographic Analysis of Glycans in Medicinal Plants” as an invited speaker.
The International Symposium on
HPLC is one of the oldest and largest international conferences in the field of
analytical chemistry. Since the first conference, which was held in Switzerland
in 1973, the HPLC symposium series have been held alternately in North America,
Europe and Asia at least once a year. CASSS is an international non-profit
chromatography discussion group that sponsors international scientific symposiums
and provides educational networking opportunities for excellent young scientists
in separation science.
