NAO robots on exhibition at the Science and Technology Week 2012

Usually robots don’t show emotions, but they certainly can inspire emotions from people. That’s exactly what NAO, a humanoid robot customized by the University of Macau’s (UM) Faculty of Science and Technology, achieved at the Science and Technology Week and Projects Exhibition 2012, held from 7 July to 10 July. Thanks to technologies that allowed NAO to identify human faces, process images and perform intelligent video analysis, the robot interacted with the audiences quite successfully and even presented gifts to some guests, to the amusement of everyone present.
The exhibition was organized by the Science and Technology Council of Macao SAR and co-hosted by the Science Popularization Working Group of Science and Technology Council, China Science and Technology Exchange Centre, and the Science and Technology Development Fund of Macao SAR, with the support of the Ministry of Science and Technology of the People’s Republic of China.
