Today (9 November) the University of Macau (UM) held a Doctor honoris causa Lecture Series, which is part of UM’s 30th Anniversary Lecture Series. The speaker, Mr. Lei Seng Chon, is the former director of the Macao Daily News, chairman of the Ou Iat Industrial Company Ltd., and recipient of this year’s title of Doctor of Humanities honoris causa. Mr. Lei opened his speech with a quotation from a poem by the famous Chinese poet Li Bai to express his thanks to UM. Mr. Lei analyzed the essence of Sun Yat-Sen thought as well as how his thought has influenced the positioning and principles of the Macao Daily News. Mr. Lei’s speech was humorous and full of interesting examples, often sending the audience into peals of laughter.
