A book on practical writing, which was co-authored by Prof. Tang Keng Pan of the Department of Chinese of the University of Macau (UM ) and one of his PhD students, was published by the Association of Modern Literature of Macau in July 2010. When presented at the International Conference on Practical Writing in Chinese and the 14th Annual Conference of the Chinese Institute for Practical Writing, the book was greeted with unanimous approval and won a first prize.

Guided by the theory of pragmatics, the 318-page book approaches the subject of “practical writing” from novel, horizon-broadening perspectives on both macro- and micro-levels, supported by in-depth and convincing arguments.
