A delegation led by Zhang Rong, party secretary of Xiamen University, visited the University of Macau (UM) and was received by Xu Jian, vice rector of UM. Xu introduced to the delegation the history and developments of the university. She expressed hope that the two universities will promote more diversified and higher-level academic exchanges, explore more areas of cooperation, and strengthen interdisciplinary research collaboration. The delegation then visited the UM Wu Yee Sun Library, the Institute of Applied Physics and Materials Engineering, the State Key Laboratory of Quality Research in Chinese Medicine, and Ma Man Kei and Lo Pak Sam College, to learn about UM’s academic layout and development, research projects and achievements, residential college system, and campus facilities. In addition, the two parties held in-depth discussions on academic cooperation in various fields and the relevant implementation. Zhang spoke highly of the developments in UM’s residential college system, talent cultivation, as well as research and teaching. He also expressed hope that the two universities will continue to deepen their cooperation and promote academic and research development in both places.
