Many academic programmes at UM have received international accreditation. Accounting programmes at both bachelor’s and master’s levels offered by the Faculty of Business Administration have been accredited by different international professional accounting bodies, including the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants with maximum exemptions of professional papers. The Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering programme, Bachelor of Science in Electrical and Computer Engineering programme, Bachelor of Science in Electromechanical Engineering programme, and Bachelor of Science in Computer Science programme offered by the Faculty of Science and Technology have received not only accreditation from the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers (HKIE), but also recognition from 16 signatories to the Washington Accord. In addition, the Bachelor of Science in Computer Science programme gained recognition from all the signatories to the Seoul Accord.

 

6.      Training Programmes Jointly Launched with World-Renowned Universities

 

UM has established close partnerships with leading academic institutions in China and abroad, including those in Portuguese- and English-speaking countries. The university has launched joint training programmes with a number of world-renowned universities, including Imperial College London, the University of Edinburgh, the University of Bristol, Queen’s University Belfast, Temple University, the University of Lisbon, Tsinghua University, Fudan University, Zhejiang University, and the South China University of Technology.

UM’s residential college (RC) system is unique among universities in Macao. It provides a platform for knowledge integration based on the university’s ‘4-in-1’ model of whole-person education and there are currently ten RCs at UM. As a complement to the university’s faculty-based system, the RCs serve as a vehicle for whole-person education through systematic planning of experiential programmes, with the aim of nurturing students who are successful in their studies and of high moral character.
