Did you know that among the 3,000 new students welcomed by the University of Macau (UM) this year, three of them are triplets? They are Yeh Chun-Hsi, Yeh Chun-Jung, and Yeh Chun-Min from Taiwan. Yeh Chun-Hsi and Yeh Chun-Jung now study in the Department of Communication, while Yeh Chun-Min is in the Department of Psychology. The three siblings went to different secondary schools, but now they are back together at UM for college.
Going to the same university means that the three siblings will be able to support and encourage each other to do well in their studies. Both Yeh Chun-Hsi and Yeh Chun-Jung believe they will acquire practical skills from the Department of Communication. ‘The Department of Communication will teach me how to effectively express myself,’ says Yeh Chun-Jung. ‘I hope to bring joy to others through my works, and I want to put my skills to good use.’
Yeh Chun-Min is the smartest among all three and received the Golden Lotus Scholarship. She was the one who proposed the idea of applying to UM to her siblings. ‘During a previous visit to UM, I was very impressed with the university’s learning environment,’ she says. ‘I wanted to study here, and I wanted my brother and sister to join me.’
It has been two weeks since the new academic year started. The triplets are still adapting to a new environment. They have participated in some activities organised by the student clubs and orientation activities organised by the residential colleges, in an effort to meet more people. They hope to join more extracurricular activities and make more friends during their spare time.
