Two University of Macau (UM) students recently each won a gold medal in the 13th National Student Sports Game. The two students are Chao Man Hou, a fourth-year student from the Faculty of Social Sciences; and Lei On Kei, a postgraduate student from the Faculty of Education.
Chao finished first in the men’s 100-metre breaststroke category in 1:03.21 and won the first gold medal for Macao in the competition, while Lei finished first in the women’s 100-metre breaststroke category in 1:12.27 and won the second gold medal for Macao.
Chao appreciates the support of his teammates, saying that he is very happy to win a medal in a national competition even though the finishing time is not his best record. Lei is happy to equalise her best record, adding that there is still room for improvement and she will work hard to prepare herself for the Asian Games to be held in Jakarta in 2018.
