University of Macau (UM) students were the champion (junior level) and
first runner-up (intermediate level) at a Portuguese poetry recitation contest
held recently. More than 30 students from local and non-local universities,
including UM, the Macau University of Science and Technology, the Guangdong
University of Foreign Studies, and Macau Polytechnic Institute (IPM), participated
in the contest.
Cecília Chan Kit Ieng and Jacinta Jiang Gangfeng from the Department of Portuguese were the champion (junior level) and first runner-up (intermediate level). Zhang Chunyan, an exchange student currently studying in the Department of Portuguese, won the championship (intermediate level) and the Special Jury Prize.
Organised by IPM, the contest aimed to promote the Portuguese language and culture and to increase the students’ interest in Portuguese poetry.
