The University of Macau’s (UM) Moon Chun Memorial College on 10 October held an activity called “Culture Across Border Series”. Mr. Gerhard Alois Maynhardt, Austrian consulate general in Hong Kong; and Ms. Jessica Tait, Chevening officer of the British Consulate, were invited to talk to students of the college.
Mr. Gerhard Alois Maynhardt and Ms. Jessica Tait were warmly received by Prof. Kevin Thompson, master of the Moon Chun Memorial College. They visited UM Wu Yee Sun Library, the University Hall, and the two Freshmen Colleges.
Mr. Gerhard Alois Maynhardt told students about the history and geography of Austria as well as its social and cultural backgrounds. Prof. Iu Vai Pan, master of the East Asia College, and Prof. Rostam Neuwirth from the Faculty of Law also joined the conversation.
Ms. Jessica Tait gave a detailed account of the application method and selection criteria of the Chevening Scholarship, which is extremely useful for students who are interested in pursuing further studies in Britain.
