A research team led by Chuxia Deng, dean of the University of Macau (UM) Faculty of Health Sciences (FHS), found that breast cancer susceptibility gene 1 (BRCA1) plays an important role in regulating mitophagy and mitochondrial dynamics. The research study was sponsored by the National Natural Science Foundation of China, UM, and the Macao Science and Technology Development Fund. It has been published as a cover article in the well-known international journal Advanced Science.
