The University of Macau (UM) recently kicked off the UM Cultural and Arts Festival to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the People’s Republic of China and the 20th anniversary of the Macao SAR. The three-month festival will include various performance by students, including concerts, magic shows, dance and theatre performances.
According to UM Dean of Students Paul Pang, the university aligns itself with the government’s strategy to develop Macao through education and is dedicated to helping students nurture their talents and abilities through extracurricular activities, adding that this festival provides a platform for UM students to showcase their talents.
Various activities will be held between September and December as part of the festival, including the classic Chinese play Butterfly Lovers: Endless Regrets; concerts by the UM Symphonic Band, the UM String Orchestra, the UM Chinese Orchestra, and the UM Choir; a magic show by the UMSU Magic Society; and a performance titled ‘Twins’ by the UM Dance Troupe.
