The University of Macau (UM) recently held an information seminar on the Accelerate Programme offered by the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA). According to Jean Chen, dean of the Faculty of Business Administration and chair professor of accounting and finance, obtaining accreditation from various accreditation bodies helps increase international recognition of the FBA’s accounting programmes and ranks them among the best and most popular accounting programmes in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and mainland China.
During the event, ACCA representatives explained how the Accelerate Programme allows students to sit for their professional-level examinations during their studies at UM, as well as the structure of ACCA professional-level examinations and the certification process. Students asked questions about the programme and many registered for it onsite, saying that they were excited to learn of the opportunity to start preparing for their professional-level examinations with ACCA prior to graduation, which they believe will help increase their competiveness in the job market.
The event was co-organised by the FBA’s Department of Accounting and Information Management and the ACCA. The FBA’s accounting programmes have obtained maximum exemptions from examinations of major international accounting bodies, such as the ACCA, the Certified Practicing Accountants of Australia, the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants of the United Kingdom, and the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
