On the eve of the Chinese New Year (31 January), also known as the Year of the Tiger, University of Macau (UM) Rector Yonghua Song and vice rectors visited the ten residential colleges (RC), the Postgraduate House, as well as the restaurants and retail shops on campus, to express holiday greetings to students and working personnel who are spending the Chinese New Year (CNY) on campus.
Because of the epidemic, many UM students have chosen to spend the CNY at UM. For this reason, Rector Song and Vice Rectors Michael Hui, Rui Martins, Ge Wei, and Billy So visited students in the Postgraduate House and the ten residential colleges, namely Chao Kuang Piu College, Cheng Yu Tung College, Cheong Kun Lun College, Choi Kai Yau College, Henry Fok Pearl Jubilee College, Lui Che Woo College, Ma Man Kei and Lo Pak Sam College, Moon Chun Memorial College, Shiu Pong College, and Stanley Ho East Asia College. During the visit, the rector and vice rectors presented lucky bags to students and wrote couplets with the students.
All the residential colleges have planned a series of holiday activities for their students in order to create a festive and warm atmosphere for those spending this important holiday away from home. The colleges have also prepared lucky bags of different themes, such as health, love and charity, and practicality, to cater for the needs of the students in every aspect of their lives.
