The University of Macau (UM) Centre for Continuing Education (CCE) and Guangzhou BOYA International Education Technology Co Ltd, an education consultancy based in Guangzhou, recently co-organised a training course for outstanding students of Youjiang Medical University for Nationalities. More than 40 students from the university in Guangxi province joined the course, which lasted from 15 June to 19 June.
During the five-day training course, the students attended various professional lectures, on topics such as ‘Integrating Biology with Informatics and Applications of Genomics’, ‘Biomedical Science: Wonders in Life Science and Health’, ‘Precision Medicine and Big Data: Revolution and Business Opportunity’, and ‘Chinese Medicine in the Healthcare Industry: Application and Development’. The students also visited different units of UM, including the State Key Laboratory of Quality Research in Chinese Medicine, UM Wu Yee Sun Library, UM Gallery, and a residential college. Outside UM, the students visited the Kiang Wu Hospital and Kiang Wu Nursing College of Macau. Many of the students say they are impressed with the international teaching quality at UM and the success of Macao in the implementation of its epidemic prevention and control measures, adding that they would like come back to UM for further studies.
Prof Matthew Liu, director of the CCE, thanks the students for their full cooperation with the university’s epidemic prevention measures, as almost all of the students were vaccinated before entering Macao and they have taken three nucleic acid tests within seven days. He adds that the university’s teaching activities are conducted in strict compliance with the SAR government’s epidemic prevention measures to ensure the health and safety of all students, staff, and faculty. Su Anjiang, a representative of Guangzhou BOYA International Education Technology Co Ltd, says that the students are happy to cooperate with UM’s epidemic prevention measures to create a safe learning environment, adding that the international atmosphere of UM helps the students broaden their global vision and thinking. He expresses hope that the students will apply what they have learned in their future studies.
The CCE will continue to develop training programmes with quality mainland universities and reliable education partners to promote collaboration between UM and higher education institutions in Mainland China.
