The University of Macau (UM) Mandarin Debating Team and its counterpart from Wuhan University recently had a friendly debate competition on the internet. The debate topic was ‘Brazilian gangs’ action to implement city lockdown on behalf of their government should be praised’. UM team members say that they felt honoured to be able to exchange ideas with students of Wuhan University with the epidemic under control. They think that Wuhan University’s faculty and students have demonstrated their outstanding qualities during the fight against the coronavirus. In addition to Wuhan University, the UM team also had friendly online competitions with debaters of other universities, including Renmin University of China, Peking University, Sun Yat-sen University, Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia, and the National University of Singapore.
