University of Macau (UM) Prof. Liu Jianhong recently received a letter from Prof. Klaus Schwab, founder and executive chairman of the World Economic Forum (WEF), inviting him to once again serve as a member of the WEF’ s Global Agenda Council on Organized Crime.

Prof. Schwab said in his letter to Prof. Liu: “The World Economic Forum’s Global Agenda Councils make up the world’s foremost intellectual network, convening the most relevant and knowledgeable thought leaders from business, government, academia and civil society to address key global issues. Serving as a global brain trust, insights and recommendations from the Councils not only help inform the Forum’s programming, including at the Annual Meeting in Davos, but also set the direction for global, regional and industry agendas.”

There are over eighty Global Agenda Councils consisting of select, invitation-only groups. Each council comprised of between fifteen and twenty members. Council members meet virtually at least four times a year, as well as at the Summit on the Global Agenda, the world’s largest brainstorming meeting exclusively reserved for Global Agenda Council members. The term of each member is one year. Prof. Liu Jianhong was first invited to serve as a member in 2011. He was also invited to attend the 2011 Davos, which was held in Dalian, China.
