Prof. Haydn Chen, vice rector for student affairs of the University of
Macau (UM), on 24 September kicked off his speaking tour at 11 local middle
schools. The topic of Prof. Chen’s speech is “hard skills and soft skills—most
wanted talent in the 21st century.” The first two stops of Prof. Chen’s
speaking tour is Pui Ching Middle School and Chan Sui Ki Perpetual Help
College. Teachers and students from these two schools showed great interest in
Prof. Chen’s speech and asked a lot of questions.
Prof. Chen is a world-renowned materials scientist. During
his tenure as president of Tunghai University, he founded a liberal arts
college there. Ever since he assumed office as UM’s vice rector for student
affairs, Prof. Chen has been vigorously improving student affairs at UM, with
focus on helping students to develop soft skills.
