In the 2015/2016 academic year, the University of Macau (UM) Faculty of Education (FED) will launch two new Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) Programmes (Pre-Primary Education Specialisation and Primary Education Specialisation), in addition to the current PGCE Programme (Secondary Education Specialisation), in order to provide comprehensive pre-employment and on-the-job training for current and would-be teachers.
While ensuring the same standards of quality, the FED will reduce the credit requirements for the three PGCE programmes from 30 to 24. Students of the programmes should be able to finish within two semesters, or one academic year. The application deadline is 31 March 2015. Classes will start on 24 August 2015 and end on 2 May 2016. For more information or enquiries, please visit the Graduate School’s website http://www.umac.mo/grs/cn/admissions_regular.php or call 88224108.
Since its founding, the FED has been firmly committed to providing training opportunities for those who wish to pursue a teaching career in Macao. Over the past two decades, the FED has continually improved its curriculum to keep pace with the evolving needs of the local society. Its PGCE programmes are now among the most comprehensive training courses in the field in Macao.
Another programme-wise change which will also occur in the 2015/2016 academic year is about the Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Sciences Programme. Starting the 2015/2016 academic year, the Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Sciences Programme will be offered by the Faculty of Health Sciences, with two new specialisations (biomedical sciences specialisation and pharmacology specialisation) for students to choose from.
