This year more than 3,000 students attended the University of Macau’s (UM) undergraduate admission examination. The three-day admission exam, which kicked off last Friday (8 April), is UM’s first admission exam held on the new campus.
This year, UM received over 3,300 applications for undergraduate programmes. The university set up 72 examination rooms and assigned more than 80 students to various locations on the campus to give directions to the applicants. It also provided circular shuttle service on the campus and requested the Transport Bureau to increase bus service frequency during the exam period to provide maximum convenience for the students.‘UM is my first choice,’ says Leong, a student from a local secondary school, ‘I will apply to UM again next year if I fail this year’s exam.’
UM this year plans to admit 1,350 local students, which will include 329 students accepted earlier through the Principals’ Recommended Admission programme. UM expects this year’s acceptance rate to be similar to last year’s.
