The Fourth Global Conference on Materials Science and Engineering was recently held at the University of Macau (UM). This year’s conference attracted more than 200 renowned scholars and researchers from 17 countries. The event aimed to provide a platform for experts and scholars from around the world to discuss the latest research findings in the field of materials science and engineering.
Prof Harry Bhadeshia from the Department of Materials Science & Metallurgy, University of Cambridge, delivered the first keynote speech, which was focused on his research findings in nanostructured metal. The lecture attracted a full-house audience.
Other keynote speakers at the conference included Prof Harry E Ruda from the Department of Materials Science & Engineering, University of Toronto, Canada; Prof Chen Jen-Sue from the Department of Materials Science and Engineering, Cheng Kung University, Taiwan; Prof Kwok Chi Tat, associate professor of the Department of Electromechanical Engineering and interim director of the Institute of Applied Physics and Materials Engineering (IAPME), UM, Macao; Prof Tang Zikang, director of the Nano Science and Technology Program in the Department of Physics, Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, Hong Kong; Prof Sammy Chan from the School of Materials Science and Engineering, University of New South Wales, Australia; Dr William M Cox, director and principal consultant of Corrosion Management Limited, the United Kingdom; Dr Alexander Khotsianovsky from Pisarenko Institute for Problems of Strength of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Ukraine; Prof Sigitas Tamulevičius, member of the European Materials Research Society and professor of the Physics Department, Kaunas University of Technology (KTU), Lithuania; and Dr Willi Pabst from the Department of Glass and Ceramics, University of Chemistry and Technology, Prague (UCT Prague), Czech Republic. The speeches covered a wide range of topics, including materials characterisation and testing, anti-corrosion materials, and ceramics materials.
The previous CMSE conferences were held in the mainland cities of Zhoushan, Xianning, and Shanghai, respectively. Papers accepted by this year’s conference will be published in SCI journals, including Materials Research Innovations, Strength of Materials, and Anti-Corrosion Methods and Materials.
