An inauguration ceremony for the new cohort of 65 UM Reporters and PR Student Ambassadors was held today (16 March).
Chair of the University of Macau’s (UM) University Council Lam Kam Seng and UM Rector Wei Zhao officiated at the ceremony. During the event, certificates were presented to the individuals featured in the top ten stories published in the monthly newspaper My UM, as well as PR Student Ambassadors and UM Reporters with outstanding performance in the past year.
In his speech at the ceremony, Rector Wei Zhao said that different universities have different characteristics, but what all world-class universities have in common are their outstanding student ambassadors, who tell the stories about their universities to visitors from around the world. He praised the UM Reporter Programme and the PR Student Ambassador Programme for providing valuable opportunities for students to develop soft skills and achieve well-rounded development through experiential learning, which is aligned with the goal of the university’s ‘4-in-1’ education model.
The two programmes were launched by the Communications Office. The PR Student Ambassador Programme is now in its sixth year, while the UM Reporter Programme in its fourth year.
