The 15th International Conference on Web-Age Information Management (WAIM 2014), which was organised by the Macau Web Intelligence Consortium Association and hosted by the University of Macau (UM), was held at UM from 16 June to18 June. More than 200 experts and scholars from over 20 countries and regions attended the conference to discuss the latest developments in information management and data research in the internet age.
Participants presented more than 100 papers during the three-day conference, and had in-depth discussions on a wide range of topics including big data management and analysis, cloud data mining, Deep Web, online data search, etc. Ten well-known scholars were invited to give keynote speeches at the conference. Prof. Jiawei Han, the 2009 recipient of the W. Wallace McDowell Award and Abel Bliss Professor at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, gave a keynote speech titled “Construction and Mining of Heterogeneous Information Networks: Will This Be a Key to Web-Aged Information Management and Mining?”
The annual event aims to provide a platform for research, production and exchange of ideas in related fields. The first WAIM was held in 2000.
