In the 2015/2016 academic year, the University of Macau (UM) recruited over 40 new academic staff from around the world, which is expected to bring the university’s teaching and research to a new level.
UM held the New Faculty Welcome Reception & Orientation 2015/2016 on 27 August to welcome the new faculty members.
UM Rector Wei Zhao delivered a welcome speech, in which he said he feels honoured that UM has recruited a group of new scholars who excel in both teaching and research. He believes that the addition of new faculty members will provide fresh impetus to the implementation of the ‘4-in-1’ model of education, which aims to product outstanding graduates with a multi-faceted approach. Rector Zhao also shared UM’s latest developments and new initiatives related to curriculum and academic affairs.
Vice Rector (Academic Affairs) Lionel Ni, Vice Rector (Research) Rui Martins, Vice Rector (Student Affairs) Haydn Chen, and Vice Rector (Administration) Alex Lai also shared the latest developments in their respective areas.
