To support the service-oriented policy of the new leadership of the Macao SAR government, the University of Macau (UM) held a symposium on the management of complaints and conflicts. Leong Iok Wa and Kuong Iok Kao, members of the Management Committee for the Treatment of Complaints from Public Service Workers, shared their experience in handling complaints and conflicts with staff of the Student Affairs Office at UM. During the symposium, Leong emphasised the importance of listening attentively and assisting both parties involved in a complaint to empathise with each other. Kuong discussed some common types of criminal offences, and also explained and demonstrated how to use mediation techniques to handle conflicts.
