The University of Macau (UM) Student Affairs Office and the Alumni Association of Macau Tsinghua University Programme recently co-organised a five-a-side football tournament. The event aimed to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the People’s Republic of China and the 20th anniversary of Macao SAR, as well as to promote interaction between postgraduate students from universities in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA).
The event was supported by the Higher Education Fund. During the tournament, teams from GBA universities, namely Wuyi University, Guangdong Medical University, and Guangdong Pharmaceutical University, were invited to compete with a team formed by UM’s postgraduate students. The team from Wuyi University won the championship. Deng Qi from UM won the Best Goal Award. Two students from Guangdong Medical University, namely Chen Li and Li Qidong, won the Best Goalkeeper Award and the Best Player Award, respectively.
