The University of Macau (UM) today (13 March) held a farewell reception for the outgoing vice rector for academic affairs Prof. Simon Ho to thank him for his contributions to UM over the past five years.
At the farewell party, which took place in the X-Hall, UM’s Cultural Centre, UM Rector Wei Zhao thanked Prof. Ho for his contributions to UM, saying that Prof. Ho played an instrumental role in the many important changes at UM over the past five years, including the undergraduate reform, the launch of the general education courses, and the establishment of the Centre for Teaching and Learning Enhancement. Faculty of Business Administration Dean Prof. Jacky So and Registrar Paul Pang also gave farewell speeches, in which they described Prof. Ho as a hard-working, caring, and competent leader, who “worked 24 hours a day”.
Prof. Ho thanked all the colleagues for their support. He admitted that leaving UM was a very difficult decision for him, but even after he leaves the post of vice rector, he will continue to supervise his PhD students here, and his love for UM will never change. All the colleagues present at the reception shook hands with Simon Ho as they wished him success in his new position.
