In celebration of the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China and the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the Macao SAR, the University of Macau (UM) and nine other local higher education institutions have organised the ‘Integrating into the National Development: Photo Exhibition on the Review and Outlook of Higher Education in Macao’. An opening ceremony for the exhibition was held today (9 October) in the Exhibition Hall of the UM Library. The exhibition features over 100 photographs on the development of higher education in Macao, attracting UM students and faculty, as well as members of the public.

The opening ceremony was officiated by Kong Chi Meng, director of the Education and Youth Development Bureau of the Macao SAR Government; Li Yongxian, deputy director of the Department of Education and Youth Affairs of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Macao SAR; Yonghua Song, rector of UM; and leaders from nine other participating higher education institutions.

Kong said in his speech that with the support of the country, Macao’s higher education has made continuous progress in all aspects, and the SAR government will continue to enhance the environment and foundation for its development. He expressed hope that the exhibition will enable the public and members of various institutions to learn more about Macao’s higher education development. In Song’s speech, he highlighted the significant progress in Macao’s higher education over the past 25 years, adding that all the institutions in Macao will continue to contribute to the development of higher education in Macao.

The photo exhibition is held in the Exhibition Hall on the ground floor of the UM Wu Yee Sun Library (E2). It is open daily from 9:00am to 5:30pm, including public holidays, until 22 October 2024. Admission is free.
